Junior NRR

Junior Norwich Road Runners

The Norwich Road Runners have a junior branch of the club, providing coaching and training to children aged 7 to 16 in a safe and supervised environment. Currently we have more than 65 junior Norwich Road Runners who attend sessions at the club. We offer a fantastic environment in which children interested in running can train safely, to a programme of exercise designed for developing children, can socialise, encourage each other, and build a real community of sportsmanship (and fun!).

All sessions are lead by a qualified instructor who specialises in junior coaching and athletic development, with help from club members who have undertaken the Leadership in Running Fitness award - all of whom have been DBS checked.

Joining the Junior Norwich Road Runners

We always look forward to welcoming new junior road runners.

Junior membership to the club is £30 per year (1st April to 31st March), and when joining for the first time, includes a Norwich Road Runners vest and affiliation to UK Athletics.

Membership forms and payment needs to be handed to Alma during a club session.

The Junior Norwich Road Runners meets on Thursday evenings (6.45pm for 7pm start, finishing at 8pm) and Saturday mornings (10.30am to 12.30pm).

Juniors meet at the grassed area just to the right as you enter the Sewell Park Sports Centre car park, as well as at the reception area.

Sessions take place outside on an enclosed field when it is safe to do so. During the autumn/winter months, the juniors make use of the indoor sports halls at Sewell Park.

All parents/carers are required to sign in and sign out their children at the beginning and end of each session.

We highly recommend that juniors come with water they may need for the session, and are dressed appropriately for the weather outside.

Safeguarding & Governance

Everyone who takes part in athletics is entitled to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment.

Norwich Road Runners is committed to devising, implementing and updating policies and procedures to promote best practice when working with children, and to ensure that everyone in the club understands and accepts their responsibilities to safeguard children from harm and abuse. This means taking action to report any concerns about their welfare.

The club has developed and implemented a Safeguarding & Welfare Policy:

Code of Behaviour

The junior runners have developed their own code of behaviour, which all junior runners and parents are required to sign when joining the club.
