NRR at Longdale Striders Endurance Relay

A huge turnout at the charity fundraising relay.

The Longdale Stiders Endurance Relay, which consisted of teams taking on 1.9 mile laps of Catton Park, was well attended by club members, with more than 50 seniors making up teams (anything from individually to eight members) as well as a huge turnout from our junior road runners.

The conditions at Catton park were very challenging, with temperatures of 5 degrees C, very blustery wind, and later on in the the relay, sustained rain. Nevertheless, the teams all powered through the relay, with many reaching double-digits for the amount of laps run.

The event raised an incredible £1657.91 for The Big C and Catton Park Trust.

There were 64 teams that took part, consisting of 255 runners who collectively ran 577 laps, totalling 1096.3 miles.

Ian Edwards has taken some great photos of the event - which can be viewed here.

The event also saw the first use of the club's new 6m x 3m gazebo and flags, which everyone was glad to have due to the high wind and heavy rain!

All photos used - many thanks to Ian Edwards.
