Race Report: Freethorpe 10 2019

Race report from a rather windy Freethorpe 10.

I am sure that most runners taking part in the Freethorpe 10 miler woke up on the morning of the 27th January 2019 faced the day in some trepidation. With overnight rain and the promise of cold and windy conditions it was going to be a tough race. However on the day it was at least dry from above but puddle dodging was necessary if you were worried about your running shoes getting wet. It was cold but not unbearably so with a blustery wind. However when the runners left Reedham, turned north and hit the 7 mile mark the strong winds really affected runners. Well done to anyone who achieved a PB on this race day.

85 Norwich Road Runners were among the 699 finishers recorded as finishing the race and and usual, put in great efforts and picked up some of the prizes

Marc Coles came third in the Male 40-44 age category with a time of 1:02:38 while Mark Garrett (1:05:54) and Gary Grand (1:08:06) came second and third respectively in the 50-59 age group. Alison Stewart put in a wonderful effort to come second in the 60-64 age group with  time of 1:22:24.

The mens team of Simon Wright, Alastair Leckie, Liam Rowlands and Dominic Richardson picked up the Seniors Mens prize while Marc Coles, Chris Bullock, Mat Porter  and Paul Smith won the Mens Masters prize
