Wroxham 5k Race 2

Important Information about the cancellation of Wroxham Race 2

Dear Runners,

Due to the torrential rain experienced tonight in Wroxham, I took the decision to call the race off. Its not a decision I take easily, but when the start is flooded, the course isn't much better, and the finish is flooded (with chip mats floating 2 inches above the ground), you do what is best, and safest for runners.

Our lead bike did a drive around of the course, and on his advice, the advice of chiptiminguk, and the clear conditions presented in front of me, I chose to call off the race.

Your safety, and the safety of my marshals, is my number one priority, and I apologise for any inconvenience caused tonight. I know it is disappointing to turn up for a race only for it to be cancelled, and I (and the Norwich Road Runners) were really looking forward to having a fantastic race. However I am responsible for everyone's safety, and the conditions presented meant that safety could not, in any way, be guaranteed. I would be putting you in harms way by letting you run the race.

Looking ahead, Race 3 (a county championship race) will be held as normal, on Wednesday 6th July. We will look to reschedule tonight's race for a date shortly thereafter - which will be the LPGP race. Please allow us some time to dry ourselves out and figure out when that will be, and what we will do regarding entries. Look out for some information next week.

Kind Regards,

Nick
